Ekeigwe Roland PdR
*BIOGRAPHY OF EKEIGWE ROLAND CHINONSO*
*Also Known as Roland PDR / PhoneDoctor*
My name is *Ekeigwe Roland Chinonso*. I was born on *October 1st, 1995*, into the family of Late Mr. Phillips Ekeigwe (1945-2014), from Okpai Kingdom in Ndokwa East Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria.
*Childhood and Early Life*
My childhood was not easy. At the age of 5, my uncle, Late Mr. Pius Ekeigwe, took me from the village to Lagos because my father was a poor farmer and could not afford to take care of us properly.
Life in Lagos was a struggle. We were managing to survive. My mother died when I was 7 years old, and because I was so young, I can barely remember her face today. That loss left a big hole in my life early.
In Lagos, I attended *Ireti Primary School*. As a young boy from Delta State in a Yoruba environment, I had to learn how to speak Yoruba language just to blend in with my classmates. I was a sharp and friendly child, so I adapted very quickly. My teachers loved me and I made good friends like Saviour Efiong, Gbenga and many others who I will never forget.
My uncle's wife was a wonderful woman. She sold food at the famous Alaba International Market. She showed me genuine love and care. She was the one who taught me how to cook, a skill that has helped me till today.
*The Turning Point*
In 2003, tragedy struck. My uncle, Mr. Pius Ekeigwe, died in the village. They said yellow fever was the cause. His death scattered everything. His dream for me, my schooling, everything. We had to leave Lagos and return to Kwale in Delta State.
Before he died, I had won an art competition in school that was supposed to give me a scholarship to further my education. But after his death, I could not go for it anymore. Everything ended.
Back in Kwale, the hustle continued. I enrolled in Technical School. I knew my father had no money to support me, so I had to support myself. God blessed me with many talents — I could draw very well, paint, sing, dance, and do comedy. I used all these talents to make small money to buy books, pay fees, and keep myself in school.
*My Phone Repair Journey*
After Technical School, I knew I needed a handwork that would guarantee me a future. I chose phone repair because I have always loved gadgets and technology.
I travelled to *Onitsha* to learn the work under *Oga Uche*, a well-known technician. While many people spend one year or two years to learn phone repair, I was so passionate and focused that it took me only *three months* to master everything — both hardware and software, from screen replacement to board repairs, flashing and unlocking.
I did not stop there. I am a self-taught technician. The rest of my knowledge came from the internet. I spent countless nights on *YouTube and Google*, watching tutorials, joining forums, practicing, spoiling and fixing again until I became a master.
That is how I became *PhoneDoctor* — a name that today represents expertise and trust.
*Career as a Content Creator and Blogger*
Today, I am a full-time *content creator, blogger, and phone enthusiast*. Under the brand *RolandPDR.com and PHONEDOCTOR*, I share my passion with the world.
I create media focused on tech gadgets, classic and accessible mobile phones, sports, and entertainment. I love to document technology — from the latest iPhones, Samsung, Redmi and Vivo devices, to nostalgic retrospectives on classic phones that many have forgotten, like the *Nokia N81 and the Nokia N-Gage*.
You can find my work and connect with me on:
*TikTok: @rolandpdr* — where I post tech retrospectives and reviews of classic mobile devices.
*Facebook: http://Rolandpdr.com* — which serves as my central blog hub for smartphone updates, lifestyle, and entertainment content.
I have turned my childhood struggle into a platform that educates, entertains, and helps others.
*Family Life*
My greatest achievement is my family. On *May 20th, 2023*, I married the love of my life, *Joy Ekeigwe (Ogbodo)*. Our union is blessed with two beautiful children, *Skylar Ekeigwe and Ansel Ekeigwe*.
From a 5-year-old boy who was taken to Lagos to hustle, to a 7-year-old boy who lost his mother, to a young artist who lost a scholarship, to a technical school student who danced and painted to survive, to a 3-month apprentice in Onitsha, to a husband and a father of two, and now a respected phone doctor, blogger and content creator — my life is a testimony that no matter where you come from, with God, focus and hard work, you can rewrite your story.
My story is still being written.
